Antenna Space presented works by ten artists at Booth C8 of Beijing Dangdai Art Fair : Daniel Dewar & Grégory Gicquel、Guillaume Dénervaud、Owen Fu、Hong Yan、Li Ming、Shuang Li、Li Siyi、Li Yong Xiang、Evelyn Taocheng Wang、Zhou Siwei.
In this presentation, the participating artists, through diverse creative practices, collectively construct a contemporary field of interactive resonance. The duo exhibition Between the Shadow and the Highlight by Evelyn Taocheng Wang and Cheng Xinyi is concurrently on view in Beijing’s 798 Art District. The work presented here by Evelyn continues her restrained and contemplative mode of expression, using calligraphic ink or acrylic on canvas to reshape cultural issues between China and the West in a dispersed context. Her deliberate use of negative space conveys a quiet resonance, whispering through the interplay of the real and the illusory. Besides, Hong Yan’s paintings depict a gentle world between dream and everyday life—serene and light, suspended outside of time, quietly permeating the viewer’s perception.
Zhou Siwei’s visual language oscillates between emotion and restrained rationality. Referencing everyday objects and cultural symbols, his canvases compress, fragment, and reassemble the contradictions of the digital age into impactful visual elements. Owen Fu’s paintings carry a confessional openness and grand fantasy—sometimes peering into dimly lit rooms, as if the artist’s self transforms into an actor within the painting, portraying desire, absurdity, humor, and delight.
Daniel Dewar & Grégory Gicquel continue to explore and challenge the boundary between the “living object” and the “utilitarian object,” emphasizing the latent power carried by organic matter often overlooked in daily life. Guillaume Dénervaud incorporates organic materials into his pigments, constructing a dense, proliferating micro-artistic ecosystem.
Li Ming’s Parallel Lines sculpture series—infused with a Dadaist spirit—hides mysteries like magic tricks. Seemingly mundane elements are strung together, revealing flashes of brilliance in their unexpected juxtapositions. Shuang Li’s resin series embeds ready-made objects in layers of industrial resin. The material’s translucency metaphorically reflects personal memories and ambiguous communication obscured by digital screens.
Li Yong Xiang and Siyi Li’s solo exhibitions are concurrently concluding at Antenna Space and Antenna-tenna. Their works in this booth are closely connected with their respective shows. Li Yong Xiang’s practice reinterprets history in an inclusive manner, exploring the manifold possibilities of painting today. Li Siy’s work captures the fleeting yet poetic potential of the present moment, conjuring sharp and intense imprints in the mind.
