Tim Enthoven

    BIOGRAPHY

Tim Enthoven got his BDes in communication-design from Design Academy Eindhoven and received his MFA from Yale University. He currently lives and works in Amsterdam.

Tim Enthoven’s work is focused on the way people use shape and structure to change behavior, and how these shapes can give away their creator’s intentions. He wants his works to be ordinary and disturbing at once. The artist aims to suspend preconceived patterns of behavior and thought, in order to bring spectators to a confusing place. A place where hidden contexts and motives surface, become ready-at-hand and suddenly appear alien. Human figures are often recurring elements in his work. They appear while they are under influence of objects.

Tim Enthoven makes drawings, installations, situations, books, and video. His exhibitions include Language of Time at Annual Reportt in Copenhagen, The Form of Form at the Lisbon Architecture Triennial, Partners at Abrons Art Center in New York and The Tiny Tim, the early years of Tim Enthoven at MU Artspace in Eindhoven. His work was published in The New York Times Magazine, Zeit Magazin and Le Monde amongst others.
